What is a Kneeling Chair ?
Some people are very confused about what s ‘kneeling chair’ does. Kneeling chairs are a beneficial solution to ergonomic seating. These chairs tilt your thighs and hips at about a 160 to 170 degree angle, which allows you to take pressure off your spine and assume more weight in your shins and feet.
Kneeling chairs allows your spine to sit in the natural “S”-shaped position, which conventional seating somewhat constricts. They force you to use your upper thigh muscles and core abdominal muscles to take pressure off your knees and lower lumbar, reducing compression.
The main misinterpretation about kneeling chairs is that it is bad for your knees. This is not the case! Kneeling chairs place you in much different position than when you are in kneeling position. The primary support still remains on the sitters's seat. while some weight is distributed to the shins ( and feet when putting feet down on the floor to support) for additional support. This is to minimize the creation of pressure points.
The Advantages of a kneeling chair
- Provides proper alignment for the spine. The forward tilt of the chair reduces spinal compression, and therefore reduces the stress and tension in the lower back and leg muscles.

Which Kneeling Chair Should I choose?
Please remember: No matter how comfortable you are, prolonged sitting in a static way is not good for your spine generally and is a well-known cause of neck and back problems. Regularly stand up, stretch your arms and walk for around for at least 2 minutes every 30-45 minutes
